Happy Halloween

Halloween is my absolute favourite time of year. Of course I took advantage of the official Glee costumes that were released this year.

Here I am as a Cheerio, and my husband as Sue Sylvester. (Have I mentioned how totally awesome my husband is? He must really love me to dress up as a woman.)

At work I told everyone I was Santana. But for those who know how big of a Gleek I am, I told them I was Rachel Berry if she made the squad.

Hope you all had a Gleeful Halloween!

Meeting Matthew

I got my first taste of meeting one of the amazing cast members of Glee - Matthew Morrison.  He made an appearance at Toronto's Eaton Centre this afternoon. There were probably about 500 fans waiting in line for his autograph and picture.

I was probably in the last quarter of the line, so by the time I got up there, his handlers were really rushing him to get through everyone. I must digress for a moment and just make note that the first half of the fans really took their sweet arse time by asking him to sign more than one item, taking more than one photo and having up to 5 minute chats with him.

By the time I got up there, we were being told we were only allowed one autograph and photo, and no talking.  Of course, I had to talk to him so I just did it really fast.  I don't think he really understood all of what I was saying but he probably got the gist of it.

Here's the play by play, as best as I can remember it.

Me: Hi Matthew!  It's great to meet you!

MM: Hi!  What's your name? (he's got his head down as he's signing my CD)

Me: Annie

MM: Hi Annie! Nice to meet you (he looks up at me)

Me: I'm getting married in 6 weeks and the best wedding present I could get would be for you to give this (I pass him my card) to Ryan Murphy. Or you could just throw it away but just wait until I'm gone okay?

MM: (chuckles) Sure!

Me: May I have a photo?

You can see he is still holding the business card in his hand. I really hope he gives it to Ryan.

Thanks Matthew for being gracious and totally nice. You've restored my faith in performers.

The Window Opens

I managed to snag a VIP pass for an appearance Matthew Morrison is making on Monday May 30 at the Eaton Centre.

I'm going to give him a business card with this blog address on it and pray he gives it to Ryan Murphy.

I'm nervous as all heck because I don't want him to a) get mad at me or b) laugh in my face.

But if I don't try, I'll always wonder what could have happened.

Keep your fingers crossed for me people!

Hung Up

Well, I guess Oprah didn't think my idea was good enough for her final "Harpo's Hookups".

I'm waiting for a window to open now that door was slammed shut. :P

Harpo's Hook Ups

I was surfing around Facebook a few days ago when I saw an item from the Oprah page come in on my news feed. It was a last call for Harpo's Hook Ups.

So I scooted on over to Oprah.com and found the page. Basically it's a last chance to submit your story to Oprah to have her make a dream of yours come true.

Instantly I thought if anyone can make my Glee dreams come true, it's Oprah!

So I filled out the form. Here's what I submitted.

Dear Oprah,

Six words - I want to be on Glee!

From the moment the show premiered, I had family and friends phoning me to tell me how much the character of Rachel (played by Lea Michele) reminds them of me. We look very similar and we're both diehard Broadway babies. We both want to feel special and we think we can achieve that through song.

For my whole life, people have asked, "Why aren't you on Broadway?" or "Why haven't you been given a recording contract?" I wish I knew the answer. It just seems that I have yet to be in the right place at the right time.

The Glee producers announced casting for Season 2, via MySpace. I cannot describe how excited I was that an opportunity had presented itself. I put together a video submission pitching myself as Rachel's long lost sister. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4tWXoqa0go

Sadly, but not surprisingly, nothing came of it.

I also started a blog to chronicle my dream of being on the show: http://iwannabeonglee.blogspot.com I've had a couple strange coincidences happen, most recently the song I did for my audition was a song they featured in the episode called "Comeback".

Since the show established who Rachel's mom is (played by Idina Menzel), it turns out I'm a bit too old to play her sister. So I changed my focus to getting on the show as Rachel's aunt.

If there's anyone who could make this happen, it's you Oprah. If I could have the chance to be on the show even for just one episode, it would honestly be the event of my life. And then one day, I can tell my future children that yes, mommy did have that once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Ann-Marie Zammit

I said a little prayer and hit the send button.

I loaded up this blog today when lo and behold, I found this footprint.

HOLY FRACK could it be that an Oprah producer visited my blog!?!?!?

AND WOULDN'T IT BE RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING IF I GOT ON BOTH OPRAH AND GLEE?!?!?!

I honestly think it had to be someone from the Oprah show. The timing is right and the city is right. It can't be just another coincidence!

OPRAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! WHOOOOOOO!!!!!

I'm wishing on every star in the sky and praying to all that is good and kind in this universe....

I Think Someone Is Listening!!!!

On last night's episode "Comeback", Rachel and Mercedes performed "Take Me Or Leave Me" from Rent.

Here's the audio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPgulTMFmQA

It's not only the same song, but the exact same arrangement that I did for my original audition!

And in case, you've forgotten, here is my audition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4tWXoqa0go

I was in absolute SHOCK watching it. I hardly think it's a coicidence.

I know for a fact that Iqbal Theba, who plays Principal Figgins, visited this blog. I had posted a copy of the autograph he mailed me. I then sent a tweet to him to say thanks and provided a link to the blog. I soon saw a footprint from a visitor from Arizona. Earlier that day, he had tweeted he was on vacation in Arizona with his family!

Could Iqbal have passed this along to TPTB at Glee?! Is that where they got the idea from?!?!?!

Oh Ryan Murphy, PLEASE call me! It would be the event of my life if I could be on your show for just one episode!!!

One Year Later

I started this blog a year ago today, when it was announced that Glee was holding open auditions.

Hmmmm... so much for that eh?

I'm still praying that a miracle happens and Ryan Murphy thinks this idea I have is totally awesome, and I'm awesome enough to be brought into the Glee universe.

Ryan can you hear me? Can you hear me Ryan? I want to play Rachel's aunt please and thank you.
